I&#8217;ve been doing a deep internet dive for good photos of the Nimbus 2000 since we&#8217;re both huge fans of this specific Harry Potter broom. The handle shape and visible wood grain <g class=\"gr_ gr_15 gr-alert gr_gramm gr_inline_cards gr_disable_anim_appear Grammar multiReplace\" id=\"15\" data-gr-id=\"15\">is<\/g> just spot-on. Plus the curve of those bristles is lovely. Just see:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/boulianne.net\/maker\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/Nimbus_2000.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-865\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Draco Malfoy&#8217;s Nimbus 2001, although supposedly superior in the Harry Potter books, is a lot more plain in the movies &#8211; straight handle, bulkier bristles &#8211; and not nearly as appealing:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/boulianne.net\/maker\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/Nimbus_2001.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-867\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>So we&#8217;ll be starting off on making our own brooms as part of our costumes. Hooray! Having perfect broom = priceless. Learning woodworking? We&#8217;ll see how it goes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Adding the Nimbus 2000 symbol to your broom<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The logo is particularly important to me to get right (big design geek right here). It turns out there are a myriad of ways there to add this sharp logo to your broom:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Spray paint + stencil (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.instructables.com\/id\/How-to-make-a-Nimbus-2000\/\">How To Make a Nimbus 2000<\/a> on Instructables)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Gold marker + stencil (<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Nimbus 2000 build (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/109492176@N05\/albums\/72157637943282663\" target=\"_blank\">Nimbus 2000 build<\/a> on Flickr)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Gold foil decal made with a Cricut (<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"How to make Harry Potter's Nimbus 2000 (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=fBpga2eu70Q\" target=\"_blank\">How to make Harry Potter&#8217;s Nimbus 2000<\/a> on Youtube)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Carving the logo into the handle and painting it with gold paint (<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"I made a Nimbus 2000 for a birthday present (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/imgur.com\/r\/diy\/tLR3U\" target=\"_blank\">I made a Nimbus 2000 for a birthday present<\/a> on <g class=\"gr_ gr_406 gr-alert gr_spell gr_inline_cards gr_disable_anim_appear ContextualSpelling\" id=\"406\" data-gr-id=\"406\">imgur<\/g>)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>My favorite method is definitely the decal, for two reasons. One, it&#8217;s really hard to get detail work right &#8211; whether it&#8217;s with a stencil or hand carving &#8211; and using a machine cut decal means you can get it just right. And two, it&#8217;s way easier. For sure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But I couldn&#8217;t find a good version of the logo anywhere online (cue tearing up and a few violins here). And I needed it for the vinyl cutter!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So I took an evening to make a vector version of the Nimbus 2000 logo. I wanted to share it with y&#8217;all as well so you can use it for making your own Nimbus 2000:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/boulianne.net\/maker\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/nimbus-2000-logo-300x140.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-871\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/boulianne.net\/maker\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/nimbus-2000-logo-vector.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"button\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Vector (PDF)<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/boulianne.net\/maker\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/nimbus-2000-logo-vector.svg\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"button\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Vector (SVG)<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/boulianne.net\/maker\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/nimbus-2000-logo.png\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"button\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Bitmap (PNG)<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And if you make a broom and it turns out even halfway worth sharing, I&#8217;d love to see pics.
