Nutmeg Cookie Log

unsalted butter
sugar
egg
salt
vanilla
rum flavoring
nutmeg
flour

Frosting
butter
vanilla
rum flavoring
icing sugar
milk

Cookie Log

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C).
  2. Cream butter. Gradually add sugar, creaming well.
  3. Blend in egg, vanilla, and flavoring.
  4. Add flour and nutmeg, mix well. If the dough is not sticking together, add water, 1 tbsp at a time, until it can be rolled.
  5. Roll dough on a lightly floured surface into long rolls, 1/2 inch in diameter. Cut into 3-inch lengths.
  6. Place on ungreased baking sheets.
  7. Bake for 10-12 minutes. Cool completely, then frost.

Frosting

  1. Cream butter, vanilla, and flavoring.
  2. Add 1/2 cup icing sugar, beating well.
  3. Add 1 cup icing sugar, 1 tbsp milk. Mix well.
  4. Add 1 cup icing sugar, 1 tbsp milk.
  5. Beat well until icing is spreading consistency. Add 1 tbsp more milk if needed.
  6. Pipe frosting onto cooled cookie logs.
